I have lived in Sebastopol with my wife, Janis Wilson, since 1988. Janis and I live in the heart of town – and through the years have enjoyed many warm, enduring relationships with our friends and neighbors in Sebastopol. These past 20 years have truly been the best years of our lives.

We have raised our family in Sebastopol. Our three children – Guy, Valerie, and Willie – attended Park Side, Pine Crest, Brook Haven, and Analy, and participated in numerous athletic, music, art, leadership, and international travel programs offered by our local schools and volunteer organizations. We are grateful for the nurturing, enriching experience enjoyed by our children in growing up in this community.  We have learned firsthand that Sebastopol is a small town with a big heart, and is filled with kind, caring, and helpful people.

I have worked full-time as a civil law attorney for most of my adult life, and am proud of my professional accomplishments and legal skills. But I feel a greater pride in my service to the community.

I am currently a School Board member for the Sebastopol Union School District, having been elected to office in 2004. It has been my privilege to work on behalf of our neighborhood schools in a mutually supportive process with dedicated teachers, administrators, and parents.

It has also been my privilege to write an editorial page column for our local newspaper, the Sonoma West Times & News, since 1995.
I have published over 300 commentaries on a wide range of subjects, including local politics, legal and environmental issues, youth sports, family life, and national controversies. The readership response – both favorable and critical – has continually provided me with feedback on how the community feels about the important issues of the day.

I have coached over 30 youth soccer, baseball, and basketball teams since 1993.
I was honored as the Boys Coach of the Year in 2000 by the California Youth Soccer Association District 5, and as the Coach of the Year in 2006 by Western Sonoma County Soccer.

I have taken a leadership role in youth sports governance, serving as the President of Sebastopol’s Tri-School Soccer Club from 1998 – 2001, and as a Director for Western Sonoma County Soccer from 1999 – 2001. I have also provided free legal services to Sebastopol Little League, Sebastopol Center for the Arts, and Western Sonoma County Soccer.
